Places to stay around Lake Como

Traveling to Lake Como in June. Debating which town to stay at on the Western or Southwestern side of the lake. Looking for recommendations!

What do you intend to do there? For bus rides into the mountains, Arcegno would be a good place (local transport hub). Menaggio is better linked with Lake Lugano, Bellagio - Varenna - Valtellina and Val Chiavenna. A place very close to Como (like Cernobbio) would enable you to use the Como city bus (runs until late in the evening, whereas the buses to Arcegno - Menaggio stop running around 7pm).
Brunate could be another choice: not on the shore of the lake, but with panoramic views over the lake and the town, easy access by cablecar.

I'm planning on staying in the area for probably two days. Mostly looking to relax on the lake but also interested in doing some kayaking and hiking. I'll have a car.
