Gap year travel to Northern Italy

With my gap year starting in less than half a year, I'm looking to live abroad in Northern Italy, somewhere like Venice, Tuscany or Veneto for a period of 1-3 months learning to speak Italian. I'm looking for somewhere where I can work to pay for my accommodation, food etc.

Can anyone recommend any schools or work placements around these parts of Italy that can last for said period of time?

Looking to travel there between September and beginning of summer next year.

I'm looking for somewhere where I can work
you should start by stating whether you are legally entitled to work and what passport you hold. Otherwise any answer is just a waste of time.

How do I find out if I'm legally entitled to work abroad, or where do I find the means to work abroad?

as i said, TELL US WHAT PASSPORT YOU HOLD. That would be a good start.

Like pulling teeth. LOL

OK you so you can legally work as as citizen of an EU country. Now you can move on to the question of what kind of work are you qualified for.

You could consider WWOOF as a way to do it. http://www.wwoof.it/en/

I would say though that given the current unemployment situation in Italy I don't know how likely finding work of any kind is going to be.

Have you got any qualifications or work experience?

Without any Italian, there are not a lot of openings for you.And as noted above, there is very high unemployment in Italy now.

I've had two work placements and will have 3 A level qualifications + 9 GCSE's by the end of August. Both work placements took place within the UK though. I've taken into account Italy's high unemployment rate as well, so would you suggest looking for a learning school/centre instead?

What sort of work have you been doing?

(Pulling teeth indeed! And no, I don't mean you worked in a dentist's office!)

Working alongside members of an investment managing business called Brewin Dolphin. Both work placements. I've also worked at a local pub three summers in a row.

OK, you've worked in a pub. How many pubs are there in Italy? How many want an English speaking barman who does not speak Italian? How many of those will pay enough to live on as well as pay for Italian lessons in a language school? How many want someone for just 1-3 months?

Can you not see how nearly impossible this is edclow?

Here is my advice. Get a job at home flipping burgers or pulling pints and save some money. Enough to at least pay for your language school. Then look at WWOOFing as a way to work mornings in return for room and board and look at attending language school in a nearby town in the afternoons.

Or look for a WWOOF position where in return for working an extra hour a day the farmer will agree to tutor you in Italian, for an hour in the evenings.

You are going to have to think more out of the box if you want to have any chance of finding a way to make it work. Just thinking you can go to Italy, find a job, and pay for school out of that is not likely to happen. I see your chances of that as slim and none and Slim has left for the UK looking for a job.
