NATURE AIR - CHECK IN HOW MANY HOURS BEFORE FLIGHT

Hi All,

I land in San Jose International Airport(SJO) at 11:30am and am considering booking a flight with Nature Air same day from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez departing at 3:30pm(the last flight) from Pavas airport. How long in advance do you need to check in for a domestic flight with Nature Air and assuming my flight arrives in San Jose on time, can you advise if I am being a bit optimistic in this?

i think you will be fine.

you can check the nature air website - but i think it's 45 minutes before your flight that you have to check in. it's about 30 minutes from sjo to the airport in pavas where nature air flights leave/arrive. figure an hour to get out of the airport.

so... out of the airport by 12:30 pm, in pavas by 1 pm (assuming there's no traffic jams or accidents) which means you will arrive in plenty of time. you could even stop somewhere and have lunch.

Keep in mind late afternoon flights can be a tad bumpy, windy, rainy and nutty, and can be delayed cancelled in rainy season (April to Dec).

SANSA has a 3PM flight from SJO to Pt Jimenez. You can easily walk to the SANSA terminal from SJO international terminal. It is only 50 meters. The traffic can be a mess going from SJO to Pavas. Also it can take a while to get through customs and immigration although faster than it used to be. To answer your question the following is from the NatureAir website FAQ page

"When is check-in for domestic flights?
Check-in for domestic flights within Costa Rica is 45 minutes prior to departure time and closes 25 minutes before scheduled departure time at all airports. Passengers that do not comply with this requirement will not be allowed to board the flight. "
