Surf and Motorbike trip in BaliHi mates, I am going to Bali to surf and rent a motorbike to hanging around at early April for abt 8 days. Can u give me some advice for that?
Now, I am planning to surf in Kuta 2 days and motorbike in area of Ubud area and may surf in another area. Is there any other place not as crowded as Kuta area and still safe to surf for my level? I surf abt 20 times in Australia and in Hong Kong, so my level is between beginner and intermediate.
It would be great if that place with chilled vibe with good atmosphere, that I can meet other ppl and go to the bar at night.
For Motorbike, any route that can pass countrysite that can contact with locals?

1For your motorbiking information check out http://journals.worldnomads.com/merantau and read the articles "Motorcycling in Indonesia: Live to Tell the Tale" and "Motorcycling in Indonesia: Potholes and Pitfalls." As for the last part of your post if you pull up at any wayside warung or roadside petrol seller in rural Bali you will meet friendly locals. There are some very pleasant rides to be made around the east coast and south-north via Kintamani or alternatively through Bedugul. The Munduk area in the central hills is also good. There is a lot of traffic in the southern third of Bali so keep your wits about you. If you are not an experienced rider you might be in for a shock.

4"From Ubud north": that's a good idea. There is not to much traffic on the road, and the road is quite good. I'd suggest to stay somehwere in the Batur caldera also, the scenery is great there. Just try minor roads (though they are often bad), and collect some impressions from the pretty hinterland. I toured Bali on bicycle (without engine), and I enjoyed it.
By the way, local people use even small hardly visible paths on their motorbikes, and when you ask local people for the way to some place, they might send you along such paths (photo http://www.panoramio.com/photo/84084844 taken between Sanur and Ubud).
