....one option would be to stay in Trinidad and or La Boca village itself for first few days a do city based and/or trips to the nearby hills and then move to one of the resorts at nearby Playa Ancon for the beach fix. Personally i wdn't travel as far as Cienfuegos for the day from Trinidad locale but rather stay a night or 2 there on way back to Havana. This makes for a much more manageable itinerary than your initial one with the long drive to Santa Maria and the flying from there to Havana. Need to stress that Ancon beach itself not a nice as Santa Maria or Var.
ps negotiation for car/driver on the spot is best.
