Big Island of Hawaii, Kealakekua Bay

Hello, I have been to the Hawaii before and normally stay near Kona town... This time i am looking to stay right at Kealakekua Bay as i really enjoy the snorkeling there.

can anyone tell me what the weather is like on the bay? does it normally rain in the after noon like in Captain Cook up the hill or is the bay/water front sheltered from the afternoon rains. i don't really want to stay here if it is raining every afternoon or over cast...

I have only been to the bay in the morning as that is when the snorkeling is the best so i a not too sure what to expect for the afternoons.

Thanks for any tips!

i stayed there for a couple days a year ago (at a great Balinese place that i found on AirBnB) , and don't remember getting rained on in the afternoons at all. A few more clouds, yes, but not much rain. i'd say its worth it to get closer to the bay, and away from the madness of Kona.

I will be there in May so that might have an affect on the weather...
