Czech Rep./Slovakia/Hungary Road Trip + political question
Hello fellow travellers, thanks for reading. :)
My friend and I are planning a road trip through Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. So far we've only decided to visit Praha, Bratislava and Budapest (maybe Vienna on the way back) and want to leave enough time for spontaneous decisions. We are going to search the internet and some guide books on things to see and do on the way, but I also wanted to ask you guys for recommendations.
Is there something we definitely shouldn't miss? Do you have any tips on what to see and do? Great experiences and tourist traps to avoid?
We will be traveling by car, we have a tent and would also stay in hostels. Duration of the trip will be about two weeks.
Things we like:
- nature
- history/historic sights
- country-typical food
- regional/farmer's marktes or flea markets
Another question that comes to mind: How are the political changes taking place right now in Hungary affecting everyday life? Do they affect tourism? I do have second thoughts about traveling to a (maybe soon-to-be) non-democratic country - not so much for safety reasons but as a matter of principle - so I'd like to learn as much as I can about the mood within the country and everything else our newspapers might not be able to cover.
