Birding in Africa, Best country for...I've just heard about what seems to be a reasonably priced and productive birding trip to The Gambia, but this started me thinking about whether it would be the best choice of African countries for seeing most/best birds. Or, if others are better, what is the best place for birding in Africa?
X-posted in the Africa branch a couple of days ago. I've received some good responses, but realized that members on this branch might elicit a few more, and members on this branch might want to look at other thread as well.

1You'd probably see more in Kenya/Tanzania/Ethiopia but the Gambia is a good choice, especially if you don't have more than a week or two. More info here

2It also depends on what month of the year you are birding. I went on a safari in the Serengeti in March, about one week after the first rains, and saw the start of the wildebeest migration, which drew in all of the major mammals and birds. Sometimes it is pure luck trying to gauge when it will rain.
