Irritating Abbreviations

I live in Western Australia, whose abbreviation as expected is WA. You have to be so damn careful you don't get stuff from Washington. Just looked for WA Cheap Fuel, no I did not want to know what it cost in Washington

I've heard of some people in Central America who have added CA to their addresses (NOT something I would do or even suggest) and had their mail go to California.

South Australia has a similar issue with South Africa. Heave away, haul away.

Use http://www.google.com/advanced_search to exclude washington from searches

My child's class teacher scribbles LOA over her stuff. Apparently this means "Learning Objective Achieved", not "Leave of Absence".

On the US branch of TT, CA can cause problems when someone posts that they will be transiting through Miami on the way to CA, and start getting advice about Los Angeles, when they are really headed to Costa Rica. (They can also add to the fun by saying they are going to San Jose.)

CA also gets confused with Canada. The domain for California government is .ca.gov. There are people who think that's the government of Canada, which is gc.ca.

If you use google.com.au instead of google.com, the first hits on WA are Australian.
