Kailash entry ticketHello travelers!
Does anyone plan this year to make a budget tour to Tibet from Kathmandu? I mean the kind of where you just pay to booking agency for the visa and transport, and while in Tibet you pay yourself for rest like hotels, food by yourself?
We have done such tour in the past and plan to visit Tibet this way once again in June-July. My QUESTION is has anyone heard about the increase of KAILASH ENTRY TICKET for this season? Earlier it was 200 RMB (we even have tickets left with us) but some of agencies claim that this year it is gone up to 800 RMB...Can it be true? Like this much change at once? Has anyone heard of it?
Thanks in advance!

I will be travelling to Tibet from Kathmandu in July 2013 with my partner. We are currently looking for a way to travel exactly as you mentioned, finding an agency which takes care of visas and transport, but leaves the rest to us; something you say you have managed to do in the past. Could you tell me which agency you used for that?
Concerning the Kailash entry ticket, I have no idea, sorry!
Thanks in advance

2Hi, I have used Tibet Highland Tours before to do the type of tour you mention (you pay everything on your own except the permits, guide, transport). I highly recommend them.
I am hoping to go twice to Kailash this year, from around July 28 to August 23, and then September 10 to Oct 5 or so...both in and out of Kathmandu. I went three times last year...
As far as entry fees go, I haven't been able to get any concrete information but judging how the construction was going last year and rumors in Darchen last September, I wouldn't be surprised if the entrance is indeed 800 Yuan this year...
