Transport in the north due to blockades

Hi all,

Currently stuck in Pasto right across the Ecuadorian border. I am looking into booking a flight to Cartagena but am wondering if all transport is blocked up there as well. Specifically, I was hoping to be able to travel in between Cartagena and The Guajira peninsula. If anyone has any insight into the transport situation there right now, it would be much appreciated as news is hard o come by down here due to all the happenings in Venezuela.

Thanks

I would like to answer your question but I have no idea what it will happens. I will suggest you to check out reports on http://colombiareports.com for update news. I hope this helps but I was planning to travel from Bogota to Pasto on plane then bus from Pasto to Quito, Ecuador and I was wondering if buses are still running or causes problems? I would appreciate to have some answers.

Thanks!

Blockades are only in the South of the country. Most of the country is unaffected by the protests.

Thanks very much Diego67 - that's good news.

ehidalgo10 - the colectivos are running from Pasto to Ipiales and then from there it's an easy taxi ride to the border so you shouldn't have much problem.

thanks again!

The blocks are in Antioquia, Caldas, Huila, Risaralda, and Valle del Cauca - principally to block flow on the Panamericana through the Eje Cafetera. If you stay away from these you should not have any problems. On Monday I travelled from Villa de Leyva to Bogota and there were lots of extra police on the highway prepared for problems and ready to assist traffic flow (incidentally it was the fastest trip I have ever made on this route). I realise that this is essentially a local trip (Boyaca/Cundinamarca, DC) however it's clear that the intention is to keep the Autopista del Norte open.

Road blocks are over. Everything is getting back to normal.
