2I have an excellent veterinarian in Togo, I will get the # from my husband and post it here in a couple days. He went to school in Russia and is very reasonably priced (well.. for everyday stuff, surgery gets expensive).
All you need to go to Togo is: Pet Passport with updated vaccinations including Rabies. And a General Letter of Health from your veterinarian (in French) that was written very close to the time you travel (24 hours before is optimal, but a few days before should be fine). Also the dog needs to be very clean and not present any dirt (especially caked mud on the feet) or look ill. I also highly recommend having a flea collar on the dog. I know we have flea and tick drops, but over there the collar is much more obvious.
Also DO NOT LOSE the small luggage receipt/sticker that they give you in Belgium when you take off - in Togo they always match the luggage barcode to the one you have. They are very serious about this.
They will put your dog on the conveyor belt and you will claim him like any other piece of luggage. From there you will take all your luggage to the xray machine. They (obviously) will not xray your dog but they will examine the pet passport, the letter of health, and look at your dog from outside the cage.
