Weekly rentals

Hi all,

I have been volunteering on a wonderful farm, finca bona fide, on Ometepe island for the last five months. After leaving the island I have two months to explore the rest of the country. I am looking for weekly rentals, or amazing projects to connect with. Please let me know if there is somewhere you really loved. If you are interested in what I have been up to here in Nica below is the link to my blog.

Thanks for any advice! Aly

There are many projects going on in Nicaragua. A good one is at Jiquilillo (NW Nicaragua), where I believe you can volunteer on community projects. Also, you may be interested in visiting Miraflor reserve near Esteli to view a variety of projects, but I'm not sure if you can volunteer. Travel guidebooks usually have good info on projects, or at least mention a relevant web-site.

if you are interested in volunteering in Jiquilillo, as Nica Ben mentioned, there are volunteer projects within the community. If you are interested in youth education Rancho Esperanza (RE) is always looking for volunteers with child ed experience to work with their afterschool program two hours a week from Monday through Friday. If you are an experienced English teacher, RE is looking for teachers to teach English to both children and adult for a total of two hours a day. Surfers are needed to help improve the local kid's surf skills at RE's surf club for the local community. If you are a certified teacher within your home country and speak Spanish, teachers at the local primary school need help tutoring students who are falling behind.

For more information about Rancho Esperanza's community projects visit www.rancho-esperanza.com. They also can arrange home stays for volunteers and backbackers passing through. Homestays and accomodation with Rancho Esperanza offer discounts for long term volunteers. Visit the site for more info.
