Page, Arizona
Hi,I'm off to Page in Arizona in April for 2 days. 1 day I've booked on to do one of the tours into Antelope Canyon and a few others but I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for my 2nd day. I'm on my own so don't really want to go off trekking but I'm happy to do some shorter, well marked routes. I'd also be happy to spend money on another tour if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks,

The easy hike down Buckskin Gulch might be worthwhile for you. There is a permit, but if you're doing a day-trip it is only a sign-in and self-pay at the trailhead. How far you go depends on the conditions, whether or not you get turned back by mud in the canyon. But if you start from Wire Pass trailhead, you're guaranteed a couple miles of interesting hiking. You also might consider a boat tour to Rainbow Bridge, if that is more your style.

Is Page really that bad?! The canyons look amazing.
Page is not in the canyons. It is up on the flat high desert. Unless you are there to see Antelope Canyon - BTW you want to do this on a sunny day, you want to go house boating on Lake Powell, or you want to take a raft tour through Grand Canyon National Park on the Colorado River, there is precious little reason to go there as a tourist. I've stayed there several times on my way elsewhere and I saw nothing "bad" about it.

We have only done the Lower Antelope Canyon Slot Canyon, and it was excellent (we had it on our own, with no guide required - things may have changed). Other than that, Horseshoe Bend was nice, as was a tour of the Glen Canyon Dam, plus heading up to the top of the hill north of the dam to see the brilliant sunset. But one night in Page is almost enough ... or two nights max to provide a good full day.
