Ilha Grande -- end of March? Book ahead?
Hey there,I'm thinking of visiting Ilha Grande at the very end of March while my friend is in Sao Paulo -- given it will be the end of Semana Santa week, will I need to book way, way in advance to find a dorm bed at a decent spot?

If you intent to visit Ilha Grande on holiday will make the reservation at the hotel as soon as possible. Can make hotel reservation through the website www.ilhagrande.org or you can rent a suite for the period in www.aluguetemporada.com.br/ferias/brasil/ilha-grande/r29760. The best place to stay in the island is the abraao village because the boats for all locations of the island leave from there and the closer the hotel is the pier is better because there are no cars on the island and everything is done on foot.3
NOW. Easter is March 31 this year. The week before is a very heavy travel time in Brazil. Your choices may well be limited already. It'll be a crowded time at vacation desinations. Have you considered staying in Rio or such that week, and going to Ilha Grande after the holiday?4
definitely, the whole coast tends to fill up even on ordinary weekends. The town on ilha grande is really small so it wont matter too much what your location is. The biergarten hostel was very popular with people we met. We had a drink in el misti and the staff were great, both places looked quite small.
