The one I linked to in Reply #1 works perfectly too. Its 56 x 35 x 23 cm dimensions are when the backpack is stuffed to the max, so under normal conditions it easily fits the 55cm x 40cm x 20cm dimensions of Ryanair's box with lots of wiggle room left over. If budget isn't an issue and you're after a completely bulletproof design with absolutely no bells and whistles whatsoever it's worth considering.

Good luck with your search, Mr. Ripio. Happy travels.

Cheers,
Terry

I have this and i'm very happy with it. I use it on all my travels (to warm countries) and it fits the hand luggage regulations of all airlines. It's cheap but well made and i like the compartments on it. It also opens like a regular luggage which i like and not the top-only access.
Great value for money:

I wish I could read German. That looks a good one Marc. I hate the topload but that is all we can get in Australia, much prefer the 270 degree zips. And expensive as hell, the basic Caribbee 40 skymaster is AUD100 which is ridiculous for a very basic pack.

On another note, I can't figure why they put wheels and all that crap on carryon gear. Fair enough for 50 kg women but it uses up a kilo or two of cargo weight and as a 100kg man, I can actually carry 7kg without needing wheels.

A bit of feedback for this thread.

I opted for the latest Deuter Futura 32 in the end, mainly because it was incredibly cheap at FieldandTrek. I did go and try out the other suggested but comfort was an issue and the Deuter just felt perfect when I tried it, much like the older version.

The Futura came in above the size restrictions for Easyjet by a couple of centimetres in terms of length and depth. So I bought some straps and compressed it.

And then the Easyjet staff never even asked me to put it in the measuring box.

Of course they didn't blackers, that's called 'Sod's Law' is it not. Or in North America, 'Murphy's Law.'

Anyone wondering why the name difference, the guy's name was Murphy Sod. The UK being more formal use his last name while N. America being more laid back address him by his first name. ;-)

Hi guys
I have a question, if anyone can help, how flexible is EasyJet about the size of the hand luggage? Does it matter if the size of the luggage is 5 cm higher or longer then allowed? Mine is a leather bag, so can be pushed and squeezed a bit, and I wondered if they really measure the exact size of each bag?
Thanks

If it doesn't fit into EasyJet's luggage "frame" then it gets checked.

Cheers,

The woman in front of me in the queue at Gibraltar recently was having great trouble. Her bag sat slightly above the top of the box and the staff were not happy. At the last moment the woman thumped it and it dropped enough to fit in.
