Advance booking accomodation

So, carefully studied this thread here I am, ready to go to Yangon on Friday, Visa in my passport, pristine dollars in my case, 30 copies of my passport ready and of course I wanted to follow your advice to book guesthouses or hotels in advance. But how? Except Myanmar Beauty Guesthouse in Taungoo and Motherland Guesthouse in Yangon none replied to my emails, even polite reminders asking for a negative reply if fully booked so acting responsably and not double book - nothing. Booking via websites if there are , every detail carefully filled in, press booking button - nothing. Try on the Contact page - no reaction. Email to their Yangon office, offering to come there in advance and prepay - no reaction.
And my mails are polite and friendly. I must say, being in Indonesia at the moment telephone is not a good option for me. So, what do I do? Wait to come to Yangon and see a travel agent there? Or send an email to a travel agent now, and if so, whom do you recommend? The first agency I emailed to did not answer yet but I admit that was only two days ago.
Fortunately I got the bookings for the first week in Yangon, even prepaid via Agoda, maybe more expensive but safe at least and for Taungoo but after that, Inle, Bagan no bookings.
First I thought people are too nervous or negative but meanwhile I understand the problems to travel in Myanmar. After many years of individual travel this is the first time I am forced to see a travel agent - not for knowing what I want to do but to know how to achieve it.
Thank you for good advice! Really glad I travel alone and am not responsible for somebody I care for, even though often I miss the dialogue.

at short notice you wont have much luck with emailing...even for those ones that do usually reply..
When you arrive in Yangon phone ahead and book your other accommodation...you should be okay. In Bagan there are a bunch of places not in the LP...your Yangon accommodation can help with phone calls & booking, and likely will have some recommendations for places to stay elsewhere.
If your Itinerary isn't already set then getting rooms in Bagan / Inle will determine where you go first (in late January I phoned ahead 2 days for Inle and tried 10 places to get a room for the nights I wanted)

It is so crowded with hotel bookings in Yangoon. The internet is terible there. So, it takes hotels 2- 3 days to reply. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/myanmar-burma/yangon-rangoon

If all else fails, when you arrive at the Motherland guesthouse, pick a quiet moment and ask the reception to see what they can do on the phone. They seem to have a list of phone numbers and they were helpful to me in getting accommodation. There doesn't seem to be a lot of horror reports about accommodation, although a few exciting outcomes like sleeping in monasteries etc. Let us know about your adventures when you get back.

I am in Indonesia and have no problems calling Myanmar. If the price of regular phone calls puts you off there is always, Skype, (VOIP) ..look it up... www.skype.com. Surprised you have not heard of it...

You probably didnt get the right person. How much is your budget for accommodation? Probably I can advise a few.

Thank you, my budget is somewhere between 25-50$. I am flexible, do not need posh places, but if it is a place I cannot resist or in heavily booked locations there is still some flexibility. I will be travelling in South East Asia for 7 weeks, so it is a question of saving there if you spend to much here.
