I now have a yen for anchovies, I'll have to stop off and buy some on the way home tonight. I love the ones that are already wrapped around a big fat caper...I think there is fewer in the container then the flat fillets but they are really good.

Even though I started this thread, I now have an urge to use some anchovies myself as quickly as possible -- I know there is a little jar hiding in the back of my refrigerator.

You've been impressing me the last couple of days, sasha. Making your own mozzarella, digging pits for cochinita pibil. Y'all are pretty hard core.

I just ate a can of olives stuffed with anchovy paste and it was spectacular -- much fishier than one usually finds, since normally it is just salty. Bravo to Dia.

Thank you Vinny. But we actually dug our pit at our old house, years ago. It's now our cat's burial ground. But we did (mostly my husband and daughter) build a smoke house and have lots of homemade sausages, country ham and bacon.

As much as I love olives and stuff made with anchovy paste, that sounds a bit too salty to me Kerouac, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
