Turkey Visa and Staying longerI would appreciate any advice regarding the visa changes for Turkey with reference to my question of,
I need around 8 months travel there and since the new rules are designed in part to stop the border visa run syndrome ,does anyone have suggestions how to achieve this length of stay in the country. For instance is there a length of time you can depart the country for after the 90 days, or 180 days where by the process might start again, and you would be allowed a new 90 day visa after this trip out of the country, and how long would you have to stay out for.
So in a nut shell does anyone know how people are managing to say for more than 6months there.
Many thanks in anticipation
I am a UK citizen.

1Under the new ruling the standard visitor visa allows you to stay for a maximum of 90 days within a 180 day period. These can be 90 consecutive days or broken up.But once you have reached the 90 then you cannot take a new visa until that 180 day period is finished, regardless of when you used up the 90 days.
If your final days are at the end of the 180 day period then you can still actually do a visa run:)
If you want to be able to stay for an unbroken 8 months then you could apply for a residents visa. This is easy enough to do but there are a couple of requirements which could be a problem for you.
You must be able to prove you have enough funds for your stay-generally 500$ per month of stay.
You must be able to prove you have an address of abode,i.e a rent book/rental contract in your name.
If you could base your self in one area and take a short term rental this would help but if you intend to be moving around the country a lot this could be problem for you, well, not a problem as such, but you'd be paying for an apartment you may seldom use!
If you decide to do this then you should start an application soon after arrival in Turkey if you intend to make your base Istanbul as applicants are now only seen by appointment system.Other cities there is no appointment system but it still takes time to get the visa through so even in those places don't wait until the 88th day to apply!
