OTOH agencies like MyChinaVisa and Panda will service applicants from all 50 states, but you have to do it via Fed-Ex.

There are also services for Foreigners/Expats in China, that if you are willing to pay, they can secure a work Visa for you in Beijing & Shanghai, but its about 5000RMB from what I recall, they have recruiters looking for candidates at many of the Embassy/Consulate/Trade commission gatherings and social networking functions, so it must be lucrative to a degree.

In regards to #28-

My error, Wash DC is the main Embassy, in other major cities, it is consulates, and yes, you must apply to the Consulate in serving your region.
