Brasilito - Advice needed: Lodging, restaurants, tours

Hey there!

I have heard quite a lot about Playa Conchal and often had it described to be one of the - if not the - prettiest beach in Costa Rica.

Do you folks agree?

Can anyone give me information on lodging? I'm travelling on a budget, which means that the Paradisus is completely out of question. I have read that the best option for economic lodging is to be found in Brasilito. Can anyone recommend hotels / cabinas or hostels there? It would be great if there was a Pool, too, becuase I will be heading there in August, which means a rainy day or two are likely.

Can anyone recommend restaurants in or tours from Brasilito?

Many thanks and kind greetings,

playa conchal is a beautiful beach - one of the prettiest.

in brasilito, your choices are somewhat limited - it's a small village. i usually stay at the hotel brasilito which is pretty basic and inexpensive and doesn't have a pool.

the hotel conchal is very popular - a bit up the hill from brasilito but very nice and people rave about the food - and it has a pool.

otherwise, you could check playa flamingo and playa potrero.

this is also a good source of information about the area: http://www.footprintscostarica.com/footprints_hotels.php

Its a nice beach, mainly due to the lighter sand, but I would not go out of my way to stay there, there are many great beaches in CR, with better beach towns and better lodging/dining options as well, like Samara/Nosora and Mal Pais/Santa Teresa...

if you are flying into liberia, the brasilito area is the easiest to get to of all those listed by solohobo.

samara and nosara (not nosora) are more than 2 hours from the airport and mal pais and santa teresa are 4-5 hours from the airport.

there are over 100 beaches in costa rica and you could drive yourself crazy trying to figure out which one to visit.

one of the advantages of the conchal/brasilito area is that you have other small towns and beaches nearby to explore. plus, if you are wanting something more lively, it's easy to get to either playas del coco or tamarindo.

Hey there!

Thanks fro the advice.

I'm not coming through Liberia, but rather arriving (by public transportation) from San Jose. I'd like to spend a long weekend - Thursday through Sunday - on the Beach. I thought of Conchal / Brasilito because, as I said, I've read so many good reviews.

Given tohse conditions (Thursday - Sunday, coming from SJO by public transportation) which other beach would you prefer to Conchal?

Kind greetings,

if you are flying into sjo, going to playa conchal is a long way. i would look at the dominical/uvita area which is much closer. here's one place in uvita: http://www.tikivillas.com

there's also manuel antonio which is closer than dominical/uvita.

based on your short amount of time and your wish to spend some time at a beautiful beach, i would settle on punta leona. about an hour from san jose. http://hotelpuntaleona.com/ also http://www.anywherecostarica.com/destinations/punta-leona-costa-rica and http://agenciadeviajespremier.com/ofertas/Hotel%20Punta%20Leona.html

Uvita/Dominical is nothing like Brasilto/Conchal.

I would go to Cahuita or Tamarindo/Samara...
