Safe Laptop Storage Rio-Galeao Airport?
Hello,I'm due to visit Sao Paulo for a work conference in March, before travelling around Brazil for a couple of weeks using Rio as a base.
As I would rather not carry my laptop with me after the conference, does anyone know if there is any long term (i.e. 2 weeks) SAFE/SECURE storage where I could deposit my laptop at Rio-Galeao Airport?
I've read from previous posts about the manned, and unmanned, lockers, but wasn't sure if these would be safe enough for the likes of a computer (i.e. £1000+)
Thanks a lot,
Will

My personal opinion is that one should not bring to Brazil anything that one can't, for financial or emotional reasons, afford to lose; completely safe and secure is a fantasy. That said, I might risk storing a laptop securely padded inside a locked suitcase, but 2 weeks in GIG could get pricey. Or ask your hotel to hold whatever you don't want to travel with. I probably wouldn't take it in the first place or would keep it with me someplace not visible when moving around.3
I don't know about Galeao Airport but there is definately luggage storage at the rodaviaria (bus station) in Rio which is on the way from the airport to town. It isn't in lockers but behind a counter with bars and so on top prevent robberies. You could put your laptop within a larger bag, padlock it, have it plastic wrapped at the airport even if you want extra security, and leave it there. I have just checked their website and the price for a bag is R$5 per day.
