Carnarvon Gorge/Taka Bush Resort: Busy on April 30 & May 1?

We expect to arrive from Moura aprox noon Tuesday, April 30 & depart midday the next day for Miles. We are wondering how busy the park could be at this time of year? We are an older (70) couple who prefer flexibility of travel without lodging reservations. But wonder if they will be needed for a floored-tent at Taka Bush resort? Would like to make a short (less than 8km/5 mile) hike in pm & another the next morn. Is Boolimba Bluff a possibility - perhaps too steep for us?
Any & All responses - info, suggestions, critiques will be most appreciated!

As for reservations - I would phone 2 or 3 days before you get near just be be on the safe side. And I agree with timmy.

Thanks timmy & nvg! I've written 4 replies in last 2 days but none of them will go on & post. I'm trying 'quick reply' this time.

Seems this location works!? At least I finally got a reply posted using this route. Trying again.
Yes, we are rushed - have 18 days frm Syd back to Syd airport! Initially thought Carnarvon was too far off our tentative route which would have been from 1770 to Dreamtime Centre in Rocky then to Bunya Mtns Park. Then thot if we leave off Dream Centre, we could go frm 1770 to Moura for overnite & then be at Carnarvon by noon next day & have a full day there by staying til midday after overniting there.
Maybe that is just too much?
That is one of reasons we hesitate to make reservations until just a few days ahead to see how things go timewise
But Carnarvon does sound like it may be at top of highlites of our trip. Decisions, Decisions!
Your thoughts are most helpful! Thank You!
