Not Sure Where to Hang my Dive Hat... StaMrta/Tagan/Tayrona/SanAndres
Im currently in Santa Marta at Aluna Hostel and trying to figure out a next step.I want to get my Advanced Padi certificate- but hear that Taganga is a nightmare of a place to be - especially with the weekend coming up... Not sure which dive center to approach... I want to go to Tayrona - but not feeling like doing that solo. Santa Marta feels a little too big (i was just in quiet little Minca for a week). I hear the diving is much better in San Andres, but it costs an arm and a leg to fly and the prices for hostal and food soar, too...
any thoughts out there in forum-ville about getting the most out of this area and diving Colombia while im here? I could use a little push in a fun direction!
Cheers all!

I didn't see much of scuba activities in Santa Marta. Haven't been to San Andres that might be better, but if you look at the map you'll understand the costs.2
San Andres is a good diving Island with several diving business.Old Providence is much better. Both are not cheap. You can find a hostel for around 30000 to 40000 Pecos. Food for around $ 3 $4 a meal buses for around .75 cents. Air fare from Bogota is not cheap. This is a tourist Island so you pay the tourist price. But this is an Island Paradise.
