If we still had the edit function I could have worked in a belated "fowl weather" pun.

Meh, they've been having plastic Duck Races on Clunie Water in Braemar for years. One of those gimmicks that spreads round the world like Andean buskers or human statues until it reaches saturation point in the last hick town where somebody thinks it's a novelty.

Eider way, it's a good revenue raising exercise for local charities. I still retain a soft spot for cowpat lotto however. Fascinating stuff.

Groo, there is a duck race every August much closer to home, in Ballina. However, I think they should have had it today!. They had to evacuate the RSL there yesterday due to rising flood water.
Meanwhile cowpat lotto is part of Casino's Beef Week in May.

Shurely not! I thought it was full of urban professionals on a Sea Change. Do you mean a dreadlocked unicyclist could still draw a crowd there? I will get my didgjeridu and face paints and hurry down.

I usually head out of town when the annual feral massed drumming and dreadlock workshop jamboree descends. It really is a time to lock up your wheelie bins.

Chooks? I suggest the use of superglue and floaties. A thus motivated chook could do it even faster.

A few years ago a cow was washed down the Macleay, out over the bar, and managed to struggle ashore around Stuarts Point somewhere,

A noble effort to my mind, but one which failed to achieve the recognition that it deserved.

Apparently we still have the duck race, I just happen to be in other parts of the world when its on. I hate to see the botox bettys and philandering phils sipping latte's and mingling with the coastal folk........and roughing it

heard of a different 'novelty' fundraiser today. Drop 1000 or so golf balls from a helicopter onto a golf green, the nearest to the pin wins.
