Diving in South-East AsiaHi everyone!
I'll be travelling in South-East Asia for 3 months as from the 27th of march. I'll be visiting Indonesia (1 month, probably only Java, Bali, Lombok and Komodo) and then Thailand, Laos and Vietnam (2 months).
On this trip I would very much like to do some diving somewhere.
I have never dived before and I was wandering if someone could recommend me the best place to do this in one of the countries I've mentioned.
I have read some nice things about the Kurimunjawa-islands near Semarang. And also about the Gili Islands.
Or is there a better place to do this in Thailand / ..
Any advice? Thanks in advance!

2I second Ko Tao, it is where I got my PADI years back, and is a fantastic place for diving. There are plenty of dive operations in competition with each other too. And yes, the Gili's are great too. Never dove in Semarang so can't comment on that.

5Thanks for all the replies everyone!
I'll probably get my padi course on the Gili's then. And try to dive at Komodo Island afterwards.
Can anyone tell me what the normal price should be for a padi course? Can anyone recommend an operator on the Gili's?
