Chengdu hostel/hotel/Sichuan opera

hello travellers
3 of us will be getting into Chengdu airport midnight on a friday night in April. we are looking for a hostel/hotel (is $15 each a reasonable price to expect to pay for a clean room in a quiet area( we can share a room), in the west, southwest of Chengdu)?. One that will pick us up(for a fee) from the airport, maybe near the Culture Park. That evening we would like to see Sichuan Opera, is the best at the theater in the Culture Park? thank you for any input, terrie

I recommend Chengdu Pairui hotel, it near the Culture Park only 600 meter. Their phone: 400-666-5511

When we went to Chengdu in August last year we stayed at the Lazybones Backpacker Hostel - you can find it on Hostelword. I really liked it, and I think we paid around 100 yuan a night for one of their nicer double rooms, so it's around your budget. They do train station/airport pick up, but you have to pay a fee. We just got the airport shuttle into the centre and then took a very brief subway ride, since we were on a tight budget, but I only recommend that if you're all travelling light.

It may not be close enough to the Culture Park for you, but they do their own tour to the Sichuan Opera. I don't think it was expensive and it's nice to have someone arrange everything and drop you off at the theatre without any hassle. I imagine Culture Park would have more atmosphere than the place we went, but it was otherwise fine.

I stayed in the Wenjun Mansion Hotel in September. Really nice place, not too expensive, and on the same street as one of the Opera places.
