in playa del coco want to head south to beaches
We have a codo in playa del coco but want to head out for a 3-4 days to playa tamarindo and playa flamingo, is there accomadations that we could just stop and and stay without reservations? We plan to rent a car?We love beaches and would like to see more

unless it is the week before easter or around christmas time, you won't have a problem just "winging it." tamarindo is about 1.5 hours from playas del coco. between playas del coco and tamarindo are the beaches of conchal, brasilito, flamingo and potreto - all close together - and might be worth a look.you could also explore some of the tiny beach towns south of tamarindo, ending in playa guiones or nosara.
it's a great way to see the whole area. just drive until you see somewhere you like and then stop.
from playas del coco to the nosara area is just under 3 hours.
you can look at some distances and travel times here: http://www.yourtravelmap.com/costarica/travelmap/ also directions. you can read more about some of the beach towns here: http://www.nicoyapeninsula.com

Thankyou for the info, we took a tour to Nicaragua today, some people suggested takingThe bus to Tamarindo. But sounds like it takes a while?
We will have alook and hopefully get down south in a couple days.

granteasterbrook: this is the source of information about buses, not someone you met on a tour. http://www.thebusschedule.com/cr/9
try here: http://www.yourtravelmap.comit's pretty easy, really. there are two ways to go and i would take the nicoya way because there is road construction on rt 1 north of canas.
so -- from playas del coco south to nicoya (rt 21) from nicoya, rt 18 for the friendship bridge. you will dead-end at rt 1 - the interamerican highway. turn right. follow rt 1 until you see the turnoff for sardinal. rt 606. follow this all the way to monteverde.
there are actually four roads off rt 1 that will eventually lead to monteverde but the road towards sardinal is the best of these. it's paved for most of the way and only the last 12-15 km or so are rocky.
