If you are interested in animal/wildlife conservation, check out Bali Reptile Rescue. It's pure volunteering - absolutely no pay and NO CHARGE for you. Just go there and help for whatever period of time you want (also short term).
All the best!

We have a website called globalhelpswap that caters for travellers looking for free and low cost volunteering opportunities. Its free to join us as we work like couchsurfing where if you donate we verify your profile. (http://globalhelpswap.com/) We have an opportunity in The Philippines. Its free to volunteer and you will receive accommodation and food.
Good luck and enjoy your travels!

3Unfortunately this forum is not the best place to find out about legitimate grassroots volunteering opportunities as they are banned from 'advertising' on the board. Only certain groups are able to advertise.
I recommend Help Ex. You have to pay to join the website, but they allow even the smallest homestead the chance to connect with hard working, enthusiastic volunteers.
Couchsurfing is also a great resource to find volunteering opportunities, many discussed in great detail.
Neither Help Ex or couchsurfing have the same heavy handed standard of moderation.on TT.
Good luck finding something... make memories to last a lifetime <3
