12 days in France - Need advice!
Hi,We are traveling to France for 12 days towards end of May with 4 kids and our initial plan is to stay 3 days in Annecy before settling in Paris. Looking at the train schedule, the ride from Paris CDG to Annecy will be long and there is no direct trains. Is it worthwhile traveling down to Annecy and stay for 2 nights considering that it is a long journey for the kids especially right after a long haul flight? Would it be better off considering the following destination instead of Annecy?
Option 1: Strasbourg/Colmar/Alsace
Option 2: Avignon and surrounding
I have read quite a bit on both options but am still not able to decide. I like nature and taking photos; not so much of a musuem person. Appreciate any advice I can get here.
Thanks!
Bee

Perhaps you can explain, if most of your vacation will be in Paris, why you are considering the locations at such a distance for just 3 days/2 nights stay at start of trip.
What is your motivation for considering any of these destinations, rather than some place closer to Paris, or even better, Paris itself to start the trip, considering
a long journey for the kids especially right after a long haul flight

Yes,it is a strange itinerary. Why not stay in Paris first and then go somewhere else for a few days? And why not consider places near to Paris, like the Loire Valley for example,or the champagne region (if you don't want to travel long-distance)?
Or what about an open-jaw flight? eg Into Paris and out of somewhere else (or vice-versa)

you like nature and not so keen on museums but are spending the majority of a 12 day holiday in Paris. Why not spend the first few nights in Paris before heading out for a longer stay in Annecy/Avignon or one of the many places which will offer you more scenery and nature.5
Thanks for the quick reply. This is not my first trip to Paris and I have been to the Loire Valley and Lyon. Am hoping to visit a new place before heading to Paris. When in Paris, our plan is to take day trips to Versailles, Giverny and Disneyland.6

d'Annécy ventures?
You might head to Gérardmer: a lake, cycling and hiking, Col de la Schlucht + toboggan, Colmar not far, route des crêtes, enough to keep you busy.
And a 'theme'-park: http://www.europapark.de/lang-nl/Startseite/c1174.html about 100 km.

re #5But our question to you was why you are planning this excursion immediately after arrival if child fatigue is an issue for you?
In the absence of other information, it just looks like you are creating an artifical problem for yourself. Start in Paris, rest up, then take your trip to Annency if it is/was a priority for you.
