floating market advise

Hi there: i am a photographer considering to visit the mekong delta for about a week, next week.
any advise on where to find the best floating markets that are original and not overcrowded with tourists?
also, any suggestions on a nice hotel in HCMC?
thanks so much!

We loved the floating markets in Can Tho and went by boat from the place we were staying in - Ngyuen Shack at first light and it was a photographer's dream, It's so huge it didn't feel over run with tourists especially at 6 in the morning.

Agree with #2, Wherever you go, see if you can make arrangements with boat operator for an extra early start, even before sunrise. This avoids a lot of tourists and often come across unique photo opportunities and also have a wider range of lighting from the very subdued lighting before sunrise to the stronger light of mid morning.

I went to the Cai Rang floating market near Can Tho and also the Cai Be floating market near Vinh Long.
Cai Rang was definitely a lot bigger and more interesting. Its probably the most popular with tourists too, but as above, just try to get there as early as possible.

What's your budget for a hotel? We stayed at Bich Duyen. Spotless, friendly people and good location. I think it was around $25 per night. No lift or swimming pool though.
