Recommendations for places to eat: Little Corn

Hello all,

My Hubby and I are going to Nicaragua for around two weeks in June. We plan on going to Little Corn for about 6 days and were wondering if anyone has any recommendations on places to eat. We are looking for budget options and hope to experience at least one fine dining place per area we visit.

We seem to have bad luck in choosing places to eat and by the end of our vacation become a little disgruntled in our culinary experiences. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Neither of us have any food allergies or preferences, just some good tasting food is what we are looking for.

We are unsure of where else we may end up visiting, possibly Leon and Granada, restaurant suggestions for these locations would be very much appreciated as well.

Thank you all in advance :)

There are some pretty good restaurants in the little island.

Probably the nicest place to eat at is Habana Libre, the cuban place just to the north end of the wharf. There really aren't any budget options cheap like Managua cheap, but Rosa's usually has a daily special for dinner that's pretty reasonable. You can expect to spend between $4 - $7 per plate at the normal restaurants.

Hope that helps, enjoy your trip!

Wow... Cosima1 removed the link I had to a list of restaurants with their descriptions!

Locals helping travelers via the LP Thorn Tree Forum was good while it lasted.

Adios.

wow is right. I knew this place was getting worse after they closed a bunch of stuff down over Xmas, but this takes the cake.

It's too bad really. betye (and others) has provided lots of info for Corn Island travellers (including myself, a bit of a lurker), and it would be a real shame if she wasn't able to continue helping people out.

I also wanted to add that if moderators ARE going to delete stuff, they least they can do is offer an explanation (if it's not something obvious like swearing or hate language).

I would have edited my previous post, but that ability has been taken away as well.

And I'm sure betye would have loved to PM this info to the OP (had her post contravened regulations), but, alas, there aren't PM's anymore.

Well, at least I was able to get the website link before it was deleted!
Thanks for the info!

"Adios.

So another helpful member of the tree is lost for good.

This death of this place is even closer than I predicted.

I have had many memorable meals in my life, but I still dream of the delicious dinner I enjoyed at Casa Iguana a few years ago during my trip to LCI. It was 3 courses and each bite was yum! http://casaiguana.net/cms/

Granada restaurants:
Garden Cafe (nice breakfast/lunch in a gorgeous garden setting)
Mona Lisa (best pizza of my life)
El Garaje (off the beaten path-- lunch only I think)

Enjoy your travels!
