Halifax to USA without flying.
Hi everybody,I checked the internet extensively but seem to be unable to find any ferry connections between Halifax and the USA at the end of April.
Would anybody have a good suggestion how to travel down without flying? Busses or hitching to the boarder and then catch a bus? Private sailing boats to charter?
We would like to travel on to Portland/Maine and Boston.
Thank you for any advise!

You are living in the past. There hasn't been a ferry between since 2009. You could try the ferry (Princess of Acadia) between Digby, NS and Saint John, NB and then getting some sort of road transportation to the U.S. from there.3
The only way to do this by transit is to work your way via various buses and shuttles to Montreal, then take Greyhound or Amtrak over the border. It'd be much easier to fly.

Here is an interesting article on the former Yarmouth/Dartmouth ferry and the hopes for a Boston/Halifax ferry:http://www.pressherald.com/archive/investors-planning-boston-to-halifax-ferry_2010-01-20.html

http://www.gov.ns.ca/econ/docs/Yarmouth-US%20Ferry_Panel_Report-FINAL.pdfIt seems there is no direct connection by ferry or by bus any more from Maine into Canada. I would look for a bus to the border on each side and somehow join the two. Maybe a taxi across the border would work.
Bus from Halifax to Saint John, New Brunswick, bus to border and bus from border to Bangor/Portland/Boston.
