Cambodia and Vietnam highlights

Hi all

Me and 3 friends are doing a 2 week trip to Cambodia and Vietnam and would like some ideas for things we shouldn't miss.

So far we only have Angkor Wat. We wanna do some snorkeling and/or diving, stay near a few gorgeous beaches but aren't really sure beyond that.

Thanks

Unfortunately, with only 2 weeks you will have to miss things, especially if you want to spend some of the time on the beach.

In Cambodia you must see the sights around Phnom Penh.. Killing fields, S21 etc. Sihanoukville is a popular spot with beaches clubs and diving/snorkeling (although not world class).

Vietnam is a very long country and you may be better flying stretches to save time. HCMC is a must, Mui Ne or Nha Trang for beaches Hoi An for culture and Hanoi to include Halong Bay. I doubt you'll have time for any more, you'll probably not even get to all those places. Enjoy.

Agree wit #1, Even two weeks for be a rush just for Vietnam alone. But if you have only two weeks..
Maybe head off to a local travel agent or look online for organised tours. Not to actually do the tour, but these will give you known itineraries, routes, highlights, timeframes etc. But with independent travelling, you will have to add a day or three, as time is taken up with finding accommodation, booking transport etc, but it's twice the fun and half the cost.

Thanks for the suggestions

I know we're on a tight schedule, but more highlights is better than fewer so we have a list to choose from.

Good idea about checking where package holidays go jonappleton.

#1 stick to one country easpecially if want spend time on beach. For me the "must sees" in Vietnam are in the north Why not include a few days in the jungle at Chi Phat in Cambodia

No worries, I would also suggest sticking to one country but was just trying to give suggestions for them if they insist on 2. I feel there is potentially far to much travelling involved, maybe the OP doesn't realise the time it takes to cover these distances in SEA.

then again what are the must sees? I am sure you and I could draw up lists and we might agree on some but not on others and we have no real info on which to make any recommendation from the questioner
