6On a boat of 189 people everybody does the landing as well, but....
On a big boat you will spend half of your time cruising and half on the land. If the weather is nice cruising is great if it is cloudy/raining or the water is choppy you want to be on land between the animals.
Cruising may be a total waste of time. In fine weather cruising is great as well.
All landing will be rushed as they have to land 2 big groups on the landing site. Some penguin colonies are a fair walk uphill from the landing site. It may take 30min or more to reach the colony in some places.
Go on a small ship.

7I am just back from a sail out fly back option to the Antarctic peninsular. I sailed on the Sea Adventurer, a real ship with wonderful crew and a really knowledgeable 'Team' to look after and inform us. On our voyage there was a force 9 gale through the Drake which was ' exciting' to say the least, but I'd say that whatever the Drake throws at you Antarctica is worth every bit of it. If you don't sail out you risk missing the trip as planes can't always fly.(there has to be a window for the round trip).
The flight from King George Island is an adventure in itself. There are only 15kg allowed for the flight so anyone travelling for any length of time needs careful planning.
Have a great time!!
