Booking accommodation in Kahta

I am doing all my bookings, but none of the booking sites show any accommodation other than Nemrut Kommagene Hotel. I am looking for budget accom, and 30$ for a single room seems to be a little too much. Does anyone know any other hotel(cheaper ofcourse) that I could get in touch with on the internet, because I need bookings for all days to apply for a turkish tourist visa.

Assuming you want to go to Kahta for Nemrut Dagi -
Look here - http://www.lonelyplanet.com/turkey/central-anatolia/nemrut-dagi-national-park/hotels
But do check out the places listed on other websites that allow reviews.

There are several places en route up the mountain which are cheaper. If you plan on walking up these are a good bet. But if you arrive in Kahta after 5pm, when the last minibus goes, you'll have to walk up to these as well.

Alternatively, look at Malatya; or Sanliurfa, where Mustafa at the Ugur Hotel runs trips up the mountain.
Of course, tours from both places cost more than from Kahta, where you can pay 30 for a room plus 70 for the tour, making 100 TL in all,

I second go_2s advice, the places up the mountain are cheaper, although the minibus running there isn't very regular, it is nicer and quieter than in town. Kahta itself isn't very inspiring and only has 2 or 3 places, when I went in july last year. Komangee was 35-40tl/single, although they usually sell their rooms as a package with a tour. Hotel Nemrut nearby was 40tl for a standard room (single occupancy). These were walk-in rates, so us$30 seems excessive. If you only have one day, you'll have to stay in Kahta and take a sunrise/sunset tour.

While I risk antagonising go_2 saying this, there's been posts in the past about unscrupulous business practices by the manager of Komangee in Kahta, so if you do make a booking there, be wary!

I pre-booked with the Kommagene, and apart from them trying to give me a terrible room (middle floor had the nicest room when I was there (2 years ago)), everything went fine.

Thanks all, I got a mail from Kommagene hotel, they ave a 135 TL package, which includes a "long" tour and a room, not sure if dinner and breakfast are included, that's reasonable, right? Or is 100 TL the price?
And my tour goes like this: goreme, gaziantep, kahta amd then sanliurfa,so I guess Kahta is the only option. And I also need to get all my bookings done, applying for a Turkish visa requires all bokings to be done.
Staying at Cesme pension still requires me to book a vehicle for 50 TL, and if it's sunrise and sunset, then it's 100 TL straightaway, and I dont even get to see Arsaemia ,Eski Kahta and all,

Yes, most of the time its fine, but as with anywhere, make sure you know what you're getting with Komangee. That is a farily standard pre-booked price, walk-ins might be able to negotiate a little cheaper though, if business is low. It should include breakfast, be sure to as about all the details. You dont need to a book a vehicle for Cesme, once arriving at Kahta, you can take a minibus up there (only during the day), as mentioned by go_2.

Btw, what nationality are you that requires all these bookings for a tourist visa?

135 TL is quite a price hike - but it +was+two years ago that I paid 100, and I think inflation's quite high in Turkey right now.
I went on the long sunrise tour and I think it was good value as we drove around .quite a few interesting sites after seeing the sun rise on Nemrut. A couple of tips:
#1. wear woolly gloves, if you have them, and a warm jacket - the wind is biting cold up there.
#2. go up the left hand path. I went up the right hand one and felt like I was going to be blown off the mountain. (Plus, I missed seeing the most awesome statues.)

almondy23 , for Indians who dont hold a EU/US visa, a tourist visa needs to obtained from the embassy in India, they need hotel bookings or an itinerary, I'm playing safe, getting all the bookings done. Breakfast is included in the price, so I guess it isn't a very bad deal. And I reach Kahta in the late afternoon from Gaziantep,so I guess Kommagene seems to be the better deal.
g0_2, thanks for the tips, May 1st week will be very cold it seems.
Do you think I could do cheaper than 135 TL staying in Kahta itself?

It's unlikely.
Plus, as I discovered, a whole lot of Irfan's (the owner) relatives work in the tourist industry and if you just turned up in the town everyone would direct you there.
Irfan is a Kurd, with the pride that goes with it. Respect him and you'll be treated well. Some people in the tourist industry are nice to your face at least; with Irfan you get upfront how he thinks about you. We got on well and he even offered me another night free, (which I had to decline as I had a tight schedule.) So he pulled strings instead to get me onto an officially-full dolmus going on to the next place.

Early May? I was there on the 2nd or 3rd of May for the sunset and it was very nice. There was still quite a bit of snow round the base of the tumulus (but the statues were clear) and you had to walk across it in places (in fact the left hand path was still closed because of the snow, although you can walk right round the top if you take the other one).

By the time sunset rolled around, I was pretty cold in long pants, a light jumper and hiking sandals, so it will definately be cold at dawn at that time of year. The snow definately made the sandals seem like a mistake.....

Which is a better time to go? Sunrise or sunset? Considering the light falling on the statues?

There's statues on the east and west sides of the summit. Although the largest and most famous statues are on the east, so sunrise would be bets for those (4am start!).
