Namanga to Maji Moto

I'm visiting Tanzania and Kenya in June and July this year, and intend on crossing the border into Kenya at Namanga. From there we are hoping to go to Maji Moto and stay at Maji Moto Eco Camp (http://www.majimotocamp.com/) .

Is there anyone who knows the best way to get to Maji Moto from Namanga?? At the moment the only option I can come up with is to go up to Nairiobi and get an organised transfer to the camp from there, but I was hoping we might be able to sort transport in Namanga to take us straight to Maji Moto from there.

Any ideas anyone??

Take a bus to from Nairobi to Narok, the catch a matatu heading to Ololaimutiek Gate. This route passes the turnoff to Maji Moto. The camp should be able to pick you up from there.

The people at the Narok bus stage know all these places. They will put you on the right matatu.

Hi Barrovian

Christopher is right, unfortunately there is no way to get to Masai Mara at the moment without going via Nairobi.
From Nairobi you can get a Narok Line matatu (around 450ksh) to Narok where the camp can pick you up from maybe for cheaper than if they come to Nairobi.
Or any of the matatus from Narok going to Sekenani,Talek or Ololaimutiek go past the road to Maji Moto where they can drop you if the camp will meet you at the main road.

Thanks both, I thought that was probably going to be the case.

Any ideas on the best/quickest way to get up to Nairobi from Namanga?? Seems a bus from Ausha is the best option??

Lots of Arusha express buses pass during the day but there is no guarantee of an empty seat. Your best option might be to go to Namanga's bus stage and catch a matatu to Nairobi.
