Thanks for your help

No direct flights from London. You'll have to transit through Madrid or Amsterdam (if KLM still fly to Ecuador). Air Europa are an airline to look at.

Hi

Thanks for that. I have looked them up but they don't seem to fly to Quito

You could check out Avianca from Madrid to Bogotá - from Bogotá there will be regular flights to Quito. Bear in mind that international flights in South America are frustratingly expensive. It is perfectly possible to do by bus as well, especially if you make a couple of stops on the way, for instance in Popayán.

There are few options and webs like Skyscanner or Kayak will help you to find what's the cheapest one on your travel dates.

You can go changing planes in the USA (take a look at American Airlines, Delta and United) or changing planes in Europe (take a look at Iberia (changing in Madrid) and KLM (changing in Amsterdam)). You can take a look at LAN too (changing in Madrid) although the leg from Madrid to London would be operated by other airline (either Iberia or British Airways).
If you don't bother to purchase a separate ticket from the UK to Madrid, you can take a look at Avianca out of Madrid and changing planes in Bogotá. Take a look also at the fares out LAN out of Madrid.

Last year I flew with British Airways to Miami and then American Airlines to Quito. That ticket was much cheaper than the ticket I had bought with KLM the previous year, even if I bought them both long ahead of my trip. However, I must say that I have only got bad experience with AA. Flying to Quito the plane was more than 2 hours late and we didn't arrive until 1.30am to Quito. Flying from Quito I was told the plane was overbooked and I was put on a waiting list, even if I had a connecting flight in Miami. Luckily I got a seat in the end.

I found a great price on lastminute.com. London to Quito via Miami (flying back from La Paz). Then I went to the Flight Centre where they have to match the flight price (and gives you a little extra security than just booking online), so booked through them! I saved £500 on the usual price, helps to search a lot on lastminute to find the good deals :)
