Bookings open a few days in advance. You can book tickets even a couple of hours before - the bus company needs to know how many people are travelling and consequently how many buses to put on (they travel in convoy). If you don't reserve you run the risk of not being able to get on the bus.You can book in person at any central bus station in Israel, or by telephone, (03) 6948888. Online booking is available only in Hebrew.

Well, travelling in South America, sometimes I had to book at least three days in advance, but obviously everywhere's different!Thanks for the advice - I'll probably just book on arrival in Jerusalem a couple of days before heading down to Eilat.
