Thai Tourist Visa in Phnom Penh--Rs meport

I applied for a Thai visa today in Phnom Penh. Here's my experience--
The Royal Thai Embassy is on the south side of the center at No. 196 Preah Norodom Blvd.; open M-F 0830-1100 for applications and 1500-1630 for pick-up. Best to arrive early as the process may take longer than you think. Although the office was not crowded, I had to wait about an hour because travel agents had submitted stacks of passports ahead of me. For a 60-day tourist visa, you need TWO photos and US $40. Other types of visas cost more. For tourist visas, only single-entry seems to be available. I was asked to write a letter with my itinerary in Thailand as well as explain how I would enter (bicycle) and depart (flight). Application needs address and phone of where you will stay in Thailand and where you are staying in Cambodia. Best to bring a pen, of course. Although I was asked to show the air ticket out, the official was satisfied with my explanation that I would buy the ticket in Bangkok. No questions about finances. I applied on a Thursday, hoping for next-day service, but the visa will take five days; maybe there were holidays involved. It's best to dress "neatly." (one Western woman walked in wearing super-short shorts, which wasn't a good idea.) Good luck!

Which day (date) did you apply? If it was last Thursday it was possibly delayed by Chinese New Year (and of course weekends they are closed).

Thanks for the report!

I got the visa, but had to wait half the afternoon--until dark--before officials brought out the passports. And this after they already had 5 days to process the visa! So I recommend avoiding this embassy if possible. Or have a local travel agent to do the legwork and waiting for you.
