Traveling alone.....
Hello I will be in Europe in September 2013, I will more than Likely be travelling alone and Im just wondering will it be lonely by myself? I have been told that I'll meet a lot of friendly people along the way who you can become friends with and that you may even join a group of people to travel with? also a while ago I was also told that there is a website you can go to for people in my situation where you can post an ad asking for someone to travel with - is this true? Thanks for any advice!

Whether you will be lonely by yourself depends upon you and how willing you are to engage other people you might meet along the way. Personally I enjoy being by myself but sometimes I want to spend time with other people. Staying at hostels, even off season in September, you are likely to meet some people. You can decide to spend a day or two with them or travel together for a a few days. You can take a tour or day trip and meet people. There used to be a section of the Thorntree called Travel companions where you could look for people traveling in the same direction at the same time but it appears to have disappeared. There might be other such places but usually hostels are a good place to meet fellow travelers, discuss your plans and find someone to join you.
There may be websites but I am not aware of them. OTOH there are websites such as couchsurfing which let you arrange homestays. While staying at someone's home isn't the same as traveling with them, it does afford the opportunity to meet people. Alternating homestays with hostels will offer you a nice mix.
