Cottage in pristine location with a 6 month oldHi all,
we are considering several options for this summer (july/august) and one of them is Canada. Having previously been to BC and Alberta in both summer and winter we absolutely love the landscape there. But we are also very interested in other parts of Canada.
What we are looking for is a nice little cottage. Nothing fancy, there must be running water though. We are bringing our 6 month old son, so we cannot go completely basic.
And for the same reason the location is very important. It should be beautiful, preferably with a view from the house. And then there should be options for short hikes near by.
Does anyone have a good idea, area or maybe even a cottage/house?
Thanks for your help!
(we are also considering Italy and South Africa - so this is an interesting quest)

1You can find this almost anywhere in Canada. I live in Eastern Canada, (Nova Scotia), and we have plenty of cottages and hiking. The south shore of Nova Scotia is very beautiful, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Chester areas are all nice. Newfoundland is often overlooked, it is beautiful especially at Gros Morne National Park.
Try these for starters!

2Prince Edward Island is very beautiful also, I quite enjoy it there!

4Have you thought about the Muskoka region in Ontario, just north of Toronto? Toronto is an easy place to get in and out of for international travelers. The region is gorgeous. You don't get the mountains like in the west, but the lakes are probably some of the best in the country.
In Muskoka, the cottages and cabins range from very basic to really luxury (mansions). The smaller lakes, such as Lake of Bays, and Go Home Lake (there are a ton of smaller lakes around the region) have more basic cottages that you can rent. Try VRBO or just do a search on the internet for Muskoka and Rentals.
The good thing about being in this region is that you can do some of the touristy things too if you rent a car...like visiting Niagara Falls (about an hour south of Toronto) and Niagara-on-the-Lake.

5Would like to send you a private message but, since LP in its infinite wisdom disallows it now...
Look up possibilities In the NS "Doers and Dreamers"-- online or free if you write the NS tourism Bureau. And look up Point Michaud Beach in Cape Breton for another possibility.
Do you hope to stay in one place for the duration of your trip?
