To book or not to book in May - June

I'm making a plan for my upcoming travel to Bolivia for about 3 weeks in late May - early June. My main destinations are Uyuni and Madidi, and I'm going from south to north.

So far I've booked international flights to Santa Cruz and from Lima (because I'll visit Machu Picchu at the end of the travel), and also domestic flights from Santa Cruz to Sucre, and between La Paz and Rurrenabaque.

From what I've read here, I figure I should be flexible about my itinerary in Bolivia. So I'm thinking of not booking anything else in advance, especially considering May is not high season yet. Is this OK? Or are there any places or tours I should make reservations for?

No need to book anything in Bolivia in advance...you can do it all when you are there (and it will be cheaper too).

I agree that you don't have to book until you are here in Bolivia. One word of advice, leave a few days spare after your flight from Rurrenabaque. Last June we got bumped from our flight because it had rained the day before. We had to wait an extra day in Rurrenabaque. Some people missed their international connections. I've heard of people waiting up to 3 days to get out of Rurrenabaque.

Thank you guys for your assuring replies. That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

Thanks, contenta. I've read stories like that here and in another travelers' site, so I'm not going to make a tight plan for the time before and after Madidi.

If you plan on doing the Inca trail thats the only tour you should book in advance.

No, the Inca trail is not included in my travel plan. I only have 4 days for Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, unfortunately, because it's going to be primarily a travel around Bolivia, Machu Picchu being just an extension.
