Wrocław to Bieszczady National ParkHello,
Myself and a friend are trying to get from Wrocław to the Bieszczady National Park. I know we can easily get to Kraków but then I do not know how to get down to the Bieszczady from there or which town to go to in the Bieszczady to begin hiking from. I have found some buses from Kraków to Ustrzyki Dolne but they seem to be a bit expensive and very slow.
I was wondering if this was normal or if there are any other options?

1Last September my husband and I took our foldable bikes to Bieszczady and did some bike touring.
Ustrzyki Dolne is not a particular great base to choose, in my opinion.
You can take a train or bus from Krakow to Sanok, which in an interesting place in itself. From there, you can take a bus to Wetlina or Cisna. These 2 small towns are both good bases for hiking. Yes, public transport is a bit slow, but there are many buses available. To get to a hiking center from Krakow will pretty much take up a day. Not sure what you mean by expensive, but we found bus travel in Poland quite cheap.
Because we had the bikes, our method was to take the train from Krakow to Rzeszow (about 4 hours). From there we rode to Sanok, and down through the Bieszczady and then back toward Nowy Sacz and ending in Zakopane.
The other option is to rent your own vehicle. We did this for a few days also.

2p.s. Of the villages or towns we went through, Wetlina was by far the most popular base for hiking, and has lots of accommodation and restaurants, considering it's size.
