Good driver from Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur?

We travel to India in mid-March and looking for some good advice to hire a private driver with car for this route: Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.

We look for a trustworhty driver, who speaks english and knows these destinations. Can someone recomand us a good driver, and what are your experiences with hiring a driver in India, ex. price pr day etc?

Do nothing until you get here.
Think about it - how can you trust advcie from someone whom you have never met and about whom you know zero.

Why do you need to rent a car+driver anyway?
If you dont want the truly Indian experience of Indian Railways then It is more sensible to take a cab between lkocations and say"bibi" when you get to your first destination hotel.

Are you going to pay for a Delhi driver to hang around in Udaipur for 3 days? It is more pleasurable and safer to take the overnite train back to Delhi.

I understand your point, but for both of us it is our first trip to India and we are getting married in New Delhi and then going to travel in India for our honeymoon. Since it is a special trip for us, we want it to go smoothly and we dont want to worry and use time at our trip to worry about different transportation. If it was an ordinery trip we would feel a bit different, but with this trip we are willing to pay some more just to have everything in order.

Hi,

I'm from Belgium and travelled around Rajasthan in November ! hire the most incredible drivier I could have imagined ! I was travelling alone but he was so great that at the end of the tour it felt like travelling with a friend !

the company was http://www.indiaprivatedriver.com/index.html and they can accomodate all kinds of tour ! my driver was called Deepack !

also I paid 27000 for 12 days all included (driver, car his meals and his accomodation not mine, and insurances) quite a good deal for such a good service !

Thank you so much. This is just what I am asking for. What was the quality of the vehicle and how did you manage the payment. Was it agreed up front or after? Was he flexible to tour changes?

Good answer anemarf, your #2, but you can see the problems on #3 which looks like blatant promotion of relatives.

Anemarf,

The first time I hired a car and driver in Delhi was in 1996: Maruti Omni.
Most drivers now have a Tata Indigo, but all kinds of cars are available for different prices.
My friends charge 35 euro per day.
It is common to pay 50% in advance in Delhi, 50% at the end of the tour in Udaipur.
You have to pay extra for the return trip for the driver.
