To travelinstyle46:I am sorry, but you are not right. ICBC insures foreigners normally.You DO NOT have to have BC driving licence, EU and international licences are enough to purchase an insurance. You do not have to be Canadian to purchase and insure a car. An autoplan broker told us that is usual that foreigners buy and sell a cars. And if this is legal, why to make a claim would not be?
And we will probably sell it at eastern part of Canada below cost (like 50% discount), maybe we will have to give it away for free, who knows.

And about the plates - if someone wants to make a claim for unused insurance, you can send the plates to BC. If your insurance is expired, you can keep the plates as souvenir :)
