Hi,
close to Ella there is a monk called Upali. he is doing meditation but not Yoga. You can stay there if you interested in meditation.

Hi !
If you are really interested in buddhist meditation or if you have to have a peace in mind (sanity)the best meditation center in Sri Lanka is the Kaduboda Vipassana Meditation Center ,Kaduboda...,I was also there two months ago . It really practices the meditation unlike the other centers,Discipline is highly appraciated ,It 's an International medi..Center....But not Yoga....As a Sri Lankan I highly recommend that place and also You are not charged even for your stay there ,And Everything is handled by buddhist monks...If you want any more details ........pls ...reply to my mail...neelpriyanga@yahoo.com.............and also any assistance for your tour pls..let me know I can arrange them for you...I am a National Tourist Guide Lecturer of Tourist Board in Sri Lanka...

That combination isn't very common in India. The monasteries/ashrams that practice yoga tend to be Hindu. Ashrams also practice meditation. You'll likely have to broaden your search or decide which is more important to you, the Buddhism or the yoga.
