Has anybody of you ever travelled from Narvik to Svolvaer by bus?
Do you know where exactly the busses depart in Narvik and where I could find a timetable on the internet?
Which is the best place to go whale watching on the Lofoten Islands? I've heard about Andenes but I thought it is quite expensive. Is there any cheaper possibility?
Thanks a lot!

The bus terminal is at the bottom of a shopping centre in town, about a 10-15 min walk from the train station (near the WWII museum over a bridge). I got the bus out to Å at the very bottom of the islands from there and it went via the airport and Svolvaer. I am pretty sure that I went with Norbus but I haven't been able to find a timetable on line sorry. I did buy my ticket on the bus and there were 3 buses a day but this was 4 years ago. I hope that some of this info helps :-)2
The Lofoten Bus Timetable is here: http://www.177nordland.no/?ac_id=262&ac_parent=1 (download the pdf)At the main entrance of the AMFI shopping centre in Narvik nothing indicates a bus station, but the bus station is well downstairs behind the shopping centre. However there is nothing except bus stops, no information booth, no left luggage, no waiting room... Of course, you can wait in the shopping centre, when it is open.
Some buses to Lofoten stop also at Narvik Train Station, but not all.

I went whale watching in Andenes, wich is not in Lofoten but in Vesterålen, expensive yes but worth the money. We're very interested in nature and animal life, and were willing to pay to see the whales. In Andenes the 'safaris' are run by the research centre, wich felt like a good option. If you do go there, also try the Puffin Safari in Bleik, you reach it by local bus from Andenes.4
When are you going? You should research when wildlife trips run, they won't run much or at all outside the main summer holiday season.I have seen trips advertised also places like Svolvaer and that area. The seas are calmer there so you can go in small open boats, I expect therefore it is cheaper.
