Interested in climbing Mt Kenya over Easter weekend?
Hey I'm planning to do a 4-5 day climb up Mt Kenya over Easter long weekend and am looking to join up with some other trekkers for good company. I'm planning to book this tour (http://www.gotomountkenya.com/mt-kenya-trek-sirimon-chogoria-route-4-day/) or something similar after getting really good recommendations from friends who went with the same company. I'd rather go with a group so let me know if you're interested in linking up!1
Rebheka,Mt. Kenya is fantastic, but this tour is HUGELY overpriced! If you book through an agency you should not be paying much more than $500 pp for a 4-day climb (inclusive of everything). Especially if you are in a group of three or more.
You can save even more by bypassing the agencies and hiring a guide directly. If you wish to PM me I can put you in touch with my own guide, a fellow who has led many foreign clients and has a very high approval rating. He can pick you up in Nairobi just as the tour companies do, and he arranges for food, porters and huts.
If you pay $820 for this walk, more than half of that is pure profit for the agency owner!

Hi rebheka,Sorry for not getting back sooner but a number of things aren't working on this site, including notifications.
The guide I had in mind is John Mukuruma Ndichu. In Kenya you can phone him at 0720559948. Outside Kenya dial the 254 country code, then 720559948. You can also access his Facebook page here:

Should I let him know you are interested?
