Australian needing Vietnam Visa - Toronto

So I'm an Australian living in Canada (Toronto) and will be visiting Vietnam in a few weeks.

Can I apply for a Vietnamese Multiple Entry Tourist Visa by sending my passport to the Vietnamese Embassy in Ottawa? I can't seem to work their website to find the forms etc...

Alternatively, there appears to be a number of private operators that can facilitate such a transaction in Toronto. Anyone know of a trustworthy, moderately priced company I could go through?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I am in Vancouver, not Toronto so can't help you on local operators but I will say that a few years ago we were doing a Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos trip and I finally threw up my hands and had a private operator get the visas for me becuase I could not make any sense out of the Vietnamese site/system. The private operator was able to deliver visas in a weeks or so. So well worth the money.

My only experience, back in 2004...I can't remember the details but all I know was that at some point I just had to go to Ottawa to take care of it. The website was useless and they NEVER answered the telephone or returned messages. Luckily I was just two hours away so driving there and back wasn't a huge deal...but, perhaps, not much has changed since then.

You can apply for a Vietnam visa online if you travel by air, there's no need sending your passport, just send the online agency your information (such as your name, passport number, date you enter and exit vietnam, etc...) and you can receive an "approved letter" to print and carry with you to enter Vietnam.

Have you looked here ? We used something like this site (can't remember which one) last year no problems, but we were in Oz. Since it's done by email it should work.

Now it is so convenient to apply for your visa in advance and obtain an "Approval letter" form an online agency. You can get a multiple entries visa online in a very simple way. Below is the procedure :

  • Complete a form online and pay fee for the online agency
  • Get approval letter within 1-2 days
  • Print the approval letter and bring to the Vietnam airport, pay stamping fee to get visa.

I know a trustful site with free consultation, you can ask them anything about Vietnam visa http://vietnamimmigration.com .

Don't pay for an agency to do it!!!!! It is not worth it.
Call the Vietnam embassy in Ottawa and expedite your passport using Canada Post Expresspost.
I did it to get my visa in a few days....they are fast!!!!

Here are the telephone numbers for the Embassy of Vietnam in Ottawa.

Tel: (613) 236 1398 or
Tel: (613) 236 0772 ext. 21
Tel: (613) 236 0772 ext. 32

melba - how much does the embassy charge for the visa fee? The 'agency' in Vietnam we used charged $20 pp, and we did not have to trust the post not to lose our passports.
